Help
A little guidance.
Your conversation lives in Messages. Find a little help here when you need it.
Need a hand?
Email support@serfin.app with any question about setup or your account.
Never email passwords, verification codes, or bank statements.
Can I use voice instead of typing?
Yes. Send a voice note in your direct Serfin iMessage conversation. In web or app Chat, tap the microphone, record, then review or edit the text before Send. Recordings can be up to three minutes and 3 MB.
Share what you want help with and a little context. You can add more as you go. Use typed text or the secure review page for action approvals.
How do I get started?
Sign in with the number you text from, then send Serfin a hello or a question. Your conversation connects automatically. You can stay in Messages.
Use a direct iMessage from that phone number. Email aliases, group threads, and SMS conversations aren’t supported in this trial.
What can Serfin help with?
Ask about spending, balances, bills, investments, or a savings goal. Serfin uses the accounts you connect and asks for another when it needs one. It can also research public rates and terms and follow up on financial to-dos. It can’t open accounts, trade or move money.
How do I connect an account?
Choose Add accounts in Settings, or ask in Messages for a secure link. Choose Banks & cards or Investments, then sign in through Plaid. You can add up to five banks or investment institutions in one visit.
Return to Serfin to review all the accounts together and choose which to share. Stay in that browser until your choices are saved. Each connection shows its own result; some data may still be loading.
You can then close the page. Any question waiting for those accounts continues in Messages once its data is ready.
My bank connection was interrupted. What now?
Reopen the original link to check its status. If setup is unfinished, the page will offer a way to continue or start over.
If the link expired, use Add accounts in Settings or ask for a new link in Messages. If your bank needs you to sign in again, choose Reconnect in Settings.
If the page is still checking whether the connection succeeded, wait before adding that bank again.
Why is Serfin asking which connection to keep?
The same bank may already be connected. Review the accounts and choose which connection to keep. Removing a connection disconnects all of its accounts, including accounts you didn’t share with Serfin.
Why isn’t a recent purchase showing?
Banks can take time to send updates. New connections can also take a little while to load. Serfin can include pending purchases when helpful; their amounts may still change.
Can Serfin alert me about spending?
Ask for a heads-up as spending in a category gets close to a limit and passes it. You’ll confirm the accounts, amount, and dates before it starts. This trial supports one spending alert at a time.
Send CANCEL WATCH to cancel just the spending alert. PAUSE ALERTS pauses suggestions, requested reminders and spending alerts. Replies stay on. START brings suggestions and reminders back. Ask in Messages to change or resume a spending alert.
Can Serfin follow up without another message from me?
Yes. Useful suggestions are on by default after your thread connects. Serfin can investigate a financial question, spot an opportunity or ask for one missing detail. If it needs something from you, it may send up to two reminders about that step. You can pause them at any time.
Say STOP NUDGES to pause reminder nudges, or ask Serfin to stop bringing up a topic. Requested reminders and spending alerts keep their own settings.
How do I set a reminder?
Ask in Messages for a financial follow-up once, daily or weekly, and say when. For example: “Remind me tomorrow to review my budget.” If you leave out the time, Serfin uses nine in the morning in your saved time zone. Check the saved confirmation.
View, pause, resume or cancel reminders in Settings, or ask in Messages. Turning requested reminders off pauses them. Turning the setting back on lets you resume the ones you want. A reminder doesn’t authorize payments or account changes.
Can I correct how a transaction was used?
In Messages, tell Serfin which purchase or refund was for business, personal use, or a mix, and ask it to update your review. It can remember your label for that exact transaction. You can change or remove it later. Unlabeled spending stays unassigned; a mixed transaction is not automatically split.
These are your labels, not tax classifications. Disconnecting a bank or removing an account from your selection deletes its saved transaction labels.
What does Serfin remember?
Useful things you share, like a savings goal or how you use an account, can become saved notes. Review, change, or forget them in Settings. You can turn off automatic saving there, too.
Forgetting a note removes that saved detail. Your messages follow the separate 30-day cleanup schedule.
Saved reminders and unfinished to-dos are separate from chat history. See Privacy for their retention and controls.
How do I pause messages?
Send STOP to pause all messages. Send START to restore replies, suggestions and reminders while your access is active. Anything you turned off yourself in Settings stays off. Spending alerts and transfers stay paused; spending alerts need a separate confirmation.
You can also pause replies in Settings.
Will I need to sign in again?
You can keep texting without returning to the website. Browser sign-ins last up to 30 days; connecting a bank or making a security change may require another code.
Settings lets you pause Messages, disconnect banks or delete your data.
What should stay out of Messages?
Bank passwords, one-time codes, and full account or card numbers. Sign in to your bank through Plaid, and enter Serfin sign-in codes only on this website.
Contact your bank directly for urgent payments, fraud, or account access. See Privacy for how Serfin uses your data.
